Not all Office 365 subscription plans come with the fully installed Office applications. See the bottom of the Office for business column for a list of plans that don't include the Office desktop client. But where are millions of users going for easy trouble shooting within the Microsoft Office 365 suite? Troubleshooting library sites and FAQ's online can get overwhelming to search through, let alone to find technical solutions that are written in laymen's terms. We are about to break down 5 of the most common issues and how to resolve them in the comfort of your own office (or home).

Advantages of Having an Office 365 Suite

Use the Excel check troubleshooter to resolve Excel for Windows startup, hang, or crash issues. When you open the main productivity apps like Word, and Excel, on the main page you should be able to see all files you opened recently. Check if CAPSLOCK is turned on, and check the spelling of the password you try to enter. As passwords are sensitive to small changes, you shouldn’t copy your passwords from anywhere (like textfiles, skype’s conversations), instead try to enter it manually.

Install the 64-bit version of Office instead of the 32-bit version

If activation failures began after you upgraded to Windows 10, see Office error code 0x8004FC12 when activating Office. When you install Office for Mac, the app icons aren't automatically added to the dock. To add to the dock, drag the app icon from the Launchpad or the Applications folder.

The Office 365 repair tool can help you fix the majority of Office 365 problems for installed Office 365 applications (not applicable if you use online apps only). You can try to repair Office by using the appropriate built-in tool. The operating system on which your Office 365 applications are installed does not support the updated version of Microsoft Office 365. Windows 7 and Windows 8 do not support the latest Office 365 versions, and only Windows 10 supports these (Windows Server operating systems are not covered here). If multiple versions of Microsoft Office are installed, Office 365 activation issues may occur. Uninstall old versions of Microsoft Office from your computer and try to activate Microsoft Office 365 again.

• Use the Microsoft 365 shared computer activation (SCA) troubleshooter to enable shared computer activation for Microsoft 365 applications.
• The update channel used by Office 365 depends on your Office 365 subscription plan and on configuration.
• However, sometimes employees may not have the required permissions to open and edit an item.
• If one of these resolves your problem, close the app and continue working.

If you're an IT Pro and you want to deploy Office in your organization, use the Office Deployment Tool to download the Office software to your local network. You then deploy Office by using the software deployment method you typically use. It could also happen because you haven't assigned a license to yourself or your users. If you're an Office 365 user, do the following to deactivate an installation.

How do I download and install Office?

Always define a recovery email address when configuring your Office 365 account. If an incorrect password is entered multiple times, after several unsuccessful login attempts, your Office 365 account will be locked. If your account is locked but you have not defined your recovery email address, try to fill Microsoft 365 account recovery help out the Microsoft account recovery form. If using a mobile device such as a cell phone or tablet, close out of the application completely. This will refresh the library and if the file is on OneDrive it should now appear. On a PC, simply exit out of all open programs and restart the entire machine.

Domain Verification Issues

This could happen because of a delay between your initial sign in and Office 365 for business setting up your environment. To install or check for updates on your Mac, see Check for Office for Mac updates automatically. If you've used up your five installs and want to install Office on another computer, you have to deactivate an installation. If Office is taking a long time to install you may be on a slow connection or you another install or update may be happening in the background.
